Epoxy Industrial Floors

Epoxy is an adhesive compound made up of a resin and a hardening agent. The use of epoxy in the Tampa Bay area is generally extensive and can be used as coatings, adhesives and composites. The chemistry of epoxy is such that it can be used in many commercial variations. Epoxy is known for its excellent adhesive qualities, its resistance to heat; and as an electrical insulator. An industrial epoxy floor is extremely practical.

Epoxy Flooring For Industrial Floors in Tampa

It is often difficult to tell the difference between commercial flooring and epoxy industrial flooring. The difference generally is in the fact that the epoxy industrial floor must have at least two or more one hundred percent layers of epoxy resin. If properly done, there is a tremendous amount of strength that begins to surface and makes the floor highly resistant to harmful to chemicals that can become corrosive and the floor can withstand the weight of wheeled traffic.

Overcoming Damp Surfaces

There is a different resin for different applications and within that group of resins are those that seal wet areas. Some Tampa Bay industries require a non-slip quality from their epoxy floor and there are those epoxies that meet those standards. Epoxy flooring is also safe to use where ramps and other conveyances are planned.

What About Damaged Concrete?

Very often the concrete of an industrial floor will be damaged due to use as well as improper structure. This makes it difficult for workers to use and otherwise manipulate such items as pallets, hand trucks, or any other materials handling equipment that has to be wheeled around. The proper epoxy resin when used correctly can reduce the risk of more damage as well as the dangers or chipping and breaking of the concrete floors.

Fixing Uneven Floors

It is not too surprising to learn that not all Tampa contractors adhere to the book and make all floors even. In some instances the haste of constructing a floor is done to save money and a cheap floor is subsequently installed. Uneven floors are a hazard and can cause accidents. Epoxy is a great surface supplement as it has self-leveling properties. Epoxy can also be used in drainage areas.

Anti-Static Properties Of Industrial Epoxy Flooring

There are certain businesses that need to have anti-static floors and epoxy flooring is an excellent solution to the static floor problem. Businesses require an epoxy anti-static floor are usually: hospitals, laboratories, computer assembly companies, and those businesses that serve as computer servers, and operators.

Maintaining Your Industrial Epoxy Floor

Regular maintenance of your industrial epoxy floor is important, the better the maintenance the longer the life expectancy of the floor. Epoxy floors have an aesthetic quality that can remain for their lifetime if maintained properly.

Depending on the amount of traffic, the epoxy floor should be vacuumed at least once a week. If the traffic in any area is heavy then it should be vacuumed daily. The floor should be mopped with water and a cleaner made specifically for your floor type. When you have mopped the floor let it dry and then mop it again using just plain water. A mechanical floor scrubber can also be used.
